Introduction

Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC) project from Palwal to Sonipat via Sohna, Manesar & Kharkhoda has secured approval from Cabinet of Government of Haryana’s on 16.07.2019 & approval from Expanded Board of Railways (EBR) on 24.10.2019. HORC has also been approved by Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs (CCEA), Chaired by Hon’ble Prime Minister on 15.09.2020.

HORC is being built on Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. HRIDC, Haryana State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC), Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL), International Cargo Terminals & Infrastructure Pvt Ltd (ICTIPL)&All Cargo Logistics Ltd (ACL) have joined together to form a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) under the name & Style of Haryana Orbital Rail Corporation Limited (HORCL). It is envisaged that HORC will facilitate diversion of freight traffic not meant for Delhi region & will help in developing multimodal hubs in National Capital Region of Haryana. The alignment of this project is mostly along the KMP expressway along the inner side (towards Delhi). Total length of the project is approximately140 Km(including connectivities) & about 95 Km alignment runs parallel to KMP.

HORC will be new electrified double broad gauge rail line from Palwal to Sonipat bypassing Delhi region. It will take from New Prithala station with suitable connectivity to existing Palwal station of Indian Railways & proposed Prithala Yard of DFFCIL. This project will also have connectivity with existing Indian Railways stations at Patli on Delhi-Rewari section, Sultanpur on Farukhnagar- Garhi Harsaru Section, Asaudh on Delhi Rohtak section & Harsana Kalan on Delhi Panipat section.
